EpicSUP rents stand-up paddleboards and kayaks on the East side of Lady Bird Lake. The folks behind EpicSUP had a vision that was forward-thinking: to create a sustainable and high-quality paddleboard dock for Eastsiders before the Boardwalk connected it to the Hike and Bike Trail.

This is one of very few private projects built on public land, and permitting and approval with Parks and Recreation was challenging. Even more challenging was making it completely sustainable and seaworthy.

We worked with Reclaimed Space to design a structure that was integrated right into a little bend in the river. From the street, it's nondescript, but once aboard, a sweeping vista of Austin opens right up. The whole thing was built from reclaimed material, and it's completely off the grid: solar panels power the security lights and music / staff internet during the day.
